Description
Brand New, floor model. Sounds great. Excellent pedal platform!
Back around 1977, some folks were cranking up their Mike Matthews Dirt Road Special — the brand new guitar combo amplifier from Electro-Harmonix. Named for its — in EHX’s words — “gritty funkiness,” this tiny brute employed a 4558 dual op-amp and six transistors to produce a surprisingly muscular sound. It boasted Volume, Tone, and Bite controls for dialing in your tone, along with a Color switch and built-in Small Stone phase shifter. The modern Dirt Road Special retains its predecessor’s sonic signature but eschews the seldom-used onboard phaser for the full gamut of reverbs contained in EHX’s Holy Grail Max pedal — and they’re footswitchable! It’s also been upgraded with modern enhancements for improved durability — a great idea considering that the original was notoriously temperamental (a number of the vintage models floating around are in some form of disrepair). So, grab a Dirt Road Special and add a classic array of raw, gritty textures to your tonal palette.
