Description

Used guitar in good condition for its age most notable signs of use general dings, dents, scratches around the front, back and sides of body and neck. Pilot holes from previous pickguard. The neck has no truss rod and dips a bit where it meets the body; a stabilizing block has been added underneath the fretboard extension to help address this. Tuner buttons are slightly bent, some turn easier than others, but they all work.

A wooden bar magnet pickup has been installed at some point, we were unable to determine the brand or vintage of the pickup.  Controls are volume and bass contour installed below the f-hole.

The guitar plays surprisingly well for its age and considering the fact that it does not have a truss rod. There are a couple of dead notes above the 10th fret.

Guitar weighs in at about 4.2 pounds.

Comes with chipboard case.

-----------------------------------
Kay was founded in 1931 by Henry “Kay” Kuhrmeyer. They supplied guitars to Montgomery Wards and others. During the 1950s their electric guitars were competitors for the Silvertone and Danelectro guitars. The company dissolved in 1968. Kay guitars are not currently in production. However, Kay also produced cellos and basses. Engelhardt-Link purchased the acoustic line of instruments from Kay. These are still being produced in Elk Grove Village, IL. The company lineage started with the Groeshel Mandolin Company.
