Serial number 543000 dates construction to '93, weighs in at 4 lbs 6 oz.
The Martin D-1 is a U.S.-made dreadnought introduced in 1993 as part of Martin’s effort to deliver a high-quality, more accessible acoustic. It features a solid spruce top paired with a mahogany back and sides, along with a traditional 20-fret dreadnought body and 25 1/2" scale length.
This model incorporates Martin’s A-frame bracing and a modified neck-to-body joint design, intended to add structural stability and support around the soundhole and fingerboard extension.
The D-1 also uses a thin satin-style finish to help optimize resonance, along with standard rosewood fingerboard and bridge.
Part of the 1 Series, the D-1 was designed to offer classic Martin construction and tone in a more affordable package while maintaining U.S. production.
